A sharper read of the matter, long before the holding.
We work for the trial lawyer, not the trial lawyer’s client.
Tranchant is a litigation intelligence firm. You own the case and you own the judgment. Our work makes the ground underneath it firmer.
The name is the French word for cutting, and the root of the English trenchant: incisive, pointed, with an edge. That is the standard we hold the work to.
We do not practice law and we do not give legal advice. That is your work. Ours is the reading and analysis that comes before it.
What we do
Background on parties, witnesses, and the subject matter of the case. Factual research and synthesis, built from public sources and the materials you furnish.
Collection and analysis of publicly available and lawfully obtained information from open sources, public records, and digital platforms.
Investigative services are performed from Colorado.
Documents and data organized, reviewed, and summarized so counsel can find what matters. The record made legible before you build on it.
Timelines, exhibits, and demonstratives that make a complex record legible, prepared for your evaluation and use at trial.
The standard
Every matter runs under the direction of counsel. Deliverables go to you, marked as attorney work product prepared at your direction, and held in confidence.
Marking is a practice, not an assurance. Tranchant makes no representation that any privilege or work-product protection attaches to any material or survives challenge. Preservation of those protections rests with counsel.
Firm information is held in strict confidence. Your clients’ information and third-party information are held with at least the same care, under reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, and stored separately from other files.
About
The Principal brings two decades across enterprise technology, national-security intelligence, and executive leadership, now concentrated on one discipline: the work behind a case, built like an intelligence problem. The background runs from building and selling advanced technology to leading products and teams at the executive level, shaped throughout by work in environments where a wrong read carried real consequences. Applied to law, that means treating a matter as terrain to be understood before it is argued, mapping what the other side knows and where it is exposed well before the first move.
Tranchant is a single-member Colorado limited liability company with no employees. One person, its sole member, performs all client work. Where a matter requires an outside specialist or a licensed investigator in another state, Tranchant discloses that engagement to counsel and obtains approval before the work begins.
Tranchant works for attorneys and law firms only. Tranchant is retained by counsel, not by parties. If you are a party to a matter, the approach belongs to your attorney.
Do not send confidential, privileged, or case-sensitive information to Tranchant before an engagement agreement is signed. Information sent to Tranchant before an engagement is not treated as confidential, and sending unsolicited information may prevent Tranchant from accepting work in a related matter.
No engagement exists, and no confidential or consulting relationship arises, until Tranchant and the retaining firm sign a written engagement agreement. Tranchant is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
